The village was asleep, except for the two of them. Under the vast, star-filled sky, Farhan and Meher stood by the riverbank, where the water shimmered under the moonlight. The cool breeze carried the soft scent of wild jasmine, wrapping them in an invisible embrace.
Farhan picked up a small stone and skipped it across the calm water. "Do you think the river remembers all the secrets we tell it?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
Meher smiled, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "Maybe... or maybe it carries them away, keeping them safe from the world."
For a moment, they stood in silence, the only sound being the gentle ripple of the river. Then, slowly, Farhan turned to her.
"If the river could take one of your wishes and make it come true, what would it be?"
She hesitated, then looked up at him, her eyes reflecting the moon. "That this moment never ends."
Farhan exhaled, a soft chuckle escaping his lips. "Me too."
And as the night deepened, the stars above seemed to twinkle just a little brighter, as if sealing their quiet, unspoken promise.
